OsteoCleanse™ Autograft Cleaning System Overview

LifeNet Health’s premier OsteoCleanse Autograft Cleaning Service is a paradigm-altering solution for the treatment of infected or contaminated cranial bone flaps.

Thousands of decompressive craniectomies are performed each year, and many of these cranial bone flaps are infected or compromised. Replacement of native cranial bone has long been considered the gold standard. Unfortunately, current methods of storing the patient’s tissue, such as freezer or intra-abdominal placement, can introduce complications. And the only alternative to using a patient’s own bone is synthetic materials, which can also introduce serious complications.

OsteoCleanse is a simple, three-step solution for the treatment of cranial bone flaps that offers the first alternative to the approaches mentioned above. OsteoCleanse gives you the benefit of using the patient’s own bone while limiting the possible complications.

The process begins during surgery with the preparation and packaging of the graft in a specialized kit provided by LifeNet Health. Completing and submitting a simple Service Request Form initiates pick up and shipping of the graft to LifeNet Health.

Upon arrival to LifeNet Health, the graft is logged, cleaned and disinfected. It is then packaged, labeled and irradiated using a method proven not to damage the structural or biological properties of the graft. These steps are then reviewed by our Quality Assurance department to ensure processing standards are met. Following release from our QA department, the graft is either returned to the hospital or placed in storage at LifeNet Health until re-implantation.

Blending the latest technological breakthroughs in the cleaning, disinfecting, and irradiation of autograft tissue with the need to meet regulatory standards, OsteoCleanse provides a turnkey alternative for complete peace of mind. To learn more about OsteoCleanse, please click here.
