PAD™ Technology Achieves Optimal Osteoinductivity

Achieving the optimal residual calcium level in critical to improving clinical outcomes. PAD™ is a patented allograft bio-implant demineralization technology that manages the demineralization process to yield an optimal residual calcium level between 1-4%.

With PAD technology, an optimal residual calcium level of 1-4% is achieved, proteins are exposed and osteoinductivity is increased.

What is osteoinductivity? Within bone, there are cascades of growth factors that provide inductive and promoting signals. These signals must be exposed from the bone matrix in order to create the rapid osteoinductive potential necessary for bone health. For a product to provide rapid osteoinduction, it must be demineralized to specific residual calcium levels. Growth Differentiation factors (GDF) carry osteoinductive signals that induce stem cells at the site to become bone-forming cells. Bone morphogenic proteins (BMP) carry osteopromotive signals that enhance the number of cells at the site.

LifeNet Health Offers products with PAD™ technology including Optium® DBM Gel, I/C Graft Chamber; and Cortical Chips, Cancellous Chips, Corticocancellous Chips and Cortical Powders. Please ask your local Bio-Implant Specialist for more information.
