CEU Program for Burn Applications Now Available
LifeNet Health introduces Exploring Severe Burn Wounds: Allografts – The First Line of Defense, a 1-credit CEU program now available for perioperative nurses, surgical technologists and other healthcare personnel who are responsible for burn patient care. Burns are extremely painful and challenging to treat. Skin allografts from donors are widely used in the treatment of burn injuries. The advantages of skin allografts include physiological barrier that decreases loss of water, electrolytes, proteins, and heat from the wound. A biological barrier is established that reduces the possibility of microbiologic contamination that leads to infection. This seminar and supportive study guide explores normal skin anatomy, burn types and classifications, surgical treatments, temporary and permanent donor skin coverage, and the benefits of allograft skin for burn patients. Contact your LifeNet Health Bio-Implant Specialist for more information or to schedule a program at your facility.
