VertiGraft^® VG2^® Cervical Celebrates 10 Years as the Complete Cervical Bio-Implant

LifeNet Health is proud to offer the VertiGraft^® VG2^® Cervical bio-implant, which is now the most trusted machine cervical graft available on the market. VG2 Cervical is celebrating its 10th year of improving lives through spinal surgery. The product has been used in more than 2000,000 anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedures in the United States since its creation in 2001.

VG2 Cervical has been clinically proven through published peer review articles and is becoming the graft of choice for specific spine procedures. "More surgeons are choosing the VG2 Cervical graft due to its superior performance in ACDF procedures," says Jeff May, spine product manager, LifeNet Health. VG2 Cervical, is recognized for cortical strength and cancellous osteoconductivity. Features include chamfered profile and easy insertion; cancellous matrix that facilitates early bone growth; cortical construction designed to provide biomechanical strength; and textured surface designed to reduce migration.

VertiGraft is among LifeNet Health's portfolio of allograft bio-implants most often used in spine surgeries. The bone wedges and shafts are available in many sizes and configurations to fit various spine surgery applications.

LifeNet Health offers Preservon^® ambient temperature storage of VG2 Cervical. This proprietary and patented preservation solution is a glycerol-based technology which is proven to offer the same biomechanical strength, osteoconductivity and biocompatibility as frozen bio-implants.

Preservon storage has shown to reduce brittleness associated with some freeze-dried products and maintains osteoconductive properties. Preservon-treated and frozen VG2 Cervical bio-implants have peak failure strengths significantly greater than that of normal cervical vertebral endplate.

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing you to let you know of my gratitude to you and your loved one, who have helped lives such as mine through the gift of tissue donation. Yours is among those compassionate families who have made the decision to help others during your time of grief. Please know I am very sorry for your loss.

I wanted to tell you a little about the reason why I needed this gift. After over a decade of pain in my back, which I thought was due to the arthritis in my spine, I found that I had multiple ruptured discs and bone spurs that were digging into my spinal cord, causing symptoms similar to a stroke. I was in so much pain when I walked that I was using the electric carts at stores just so I could make it through a shopping trip. I hardly went anywhere as it was just too painful. I could barely lift even the youngest of my grandchildren.

Where I had always been a vigorous and strong woman in my youth, I was virtually a cripple at age 59. Thanks to your family's generous gift I am now completely pain-free in my spine for the first time in over a decade.
